Does this describe you?

You’ve decided to declare your independence and make a statement to the world of who you really are!

You’ve decided to get your first tattoo.

You may be getting the tattoo as a status symbol, a representation of your religious or spiritual devotion, a sexual lure, a pledge of love, a snub to the establishment, a cultural identification, or just for fun.

It doesn’t matter. It’s “body art” that you know you will love until the end of your days.

Fast Forward Several Years...

You’ve applied for a terrific position at a local bank. You walk into the office of the Director of Human Resources with confidence and assurance that you have the abilities to fill the position.

But as you sit down, you notice the Director looks askance at the multicolored, fire-breathing dragon tattooed on your arm and you see just the slightest hint of a frown.

You know immediately that what you once thought was a striking symbol of your self-expression has suddenly become a hindrance, a handicap, a deterrent in your job search.

Or … that perfect relationship you thought would never end … has ended. And now you want to get rid of your ex-lover’s name that is indelibly tattooed on your shoulder.

Or … you’ve applied for a job in law enforcement, but the hiring officer tells you that although the American Eagle you have tattooed on the top of your hand is patriotic, it could easily be considered offensive to the general public.

It has become painfully clear. Your tattoo is no longer what it used to be. It is no longer a mark of beauty, a symbol of undying love, a personal (and permanent) keepsake.

And you regret your decision.

Removing Your Tattoo...

Webster’s Dictionary defines a tattoo as an indelible (i.e., cannot be removed, washed away, or erased), mark or figure fixed upon the body.

For many years, people who added tattoos to their body had little recourse for getting rid of these works of art. Removal techniques were invasive (requiring surgery) and painful. But there have been a lot of changes in the field of tattoo removal.
